Vibe Yoga FAQ

  • We recommend that you wear comfortable and flexible clothing that won’t limit your mobility. Many people wear stretchy yoga pants and a tank top or t-shirt. Sweatpants and gym shorts are also common. Some people keep their sox on in class however it is recommended that you have bare feet while practicing yoga in order to get the best grip on your yoga mat. All shoes should be removed for class.

  • Most people bring their own yoga mat to class. If you do not own a yoga mat we have mats at the studio that you can borrow free of charge. All other props are supplied including Blocks, Straps Blankets and Bolsters. If you have your own props you are more than welcome you to bring them to class but this is not required.

We recommend that you bring water to class, we do have water available in the studio as well.

  • Parking on Main street is metered Monday through Saturday. The meters vary depending on where you park so be sure to carefully check the parking requirements. There is a parking lot behind the studio called the Spring Street Parking Lot that is free after 7 PM and on Sundays.

If you are willing to walk a couple of blocks the Elm Street Parking Garage and the High Street Parking Garage are free on the weekends and allow you to park for up to 9 hrs on weekdays. This is a great option if you are planning on staying downtown after class.

  • We offer a wide variety of beginner friendly classes at the studio. All of our classes will offer a mix of strengthening, flexibility and relaxation, but some classes are geared more towards advanced practitioners while others are more suitable for someone who is new to yoga.

The best way to start (or restart) your practice is to try our Yoga 101: beginner series where we will teach you the fundamentals of yoga in a safe and supportive environment. You will learn the basics of posture alignment, breath work and meditation and by the end of the 5 weeks will feel confident stepping into any yoga class.

Students will have access to unlimited studio classes for the duration of the Yoga 101 series.

check out our EVENTS PAGE to learn when our next Yoga 101 series starts

If we don’t have a yoga 101 coming up that works for you, we find that most beginners typically start with either our Yin class or with one of our Gentle Yoga Classes.

Gentle Yoga incorporates flow and movement into your practice utilizing stretches that are held for up to a minute in addition to other dynamic movements that encourage you to connect your breath to motion as you flow in and out of yoga postures. Similar to our Beginner deep stretch class, this class utilizes props to make the movements and poses accessible. We have found that significant wrist, shoulder and knee injuries can be limiting in this class since we will spend time on our hands and knees in a table top position and will also move through down dog where arms are extended overhead and bearing weight.

Yin uses props such as blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters to help get you into yoga positions where you can focus on breathing and stretching. The slow pace of this class gives you time to settle into each position and allows the teacher time to help adjust you if needed to make sure you are achieving the desired stretch. Poses are typically held for 3 - 5 minutes. This class will increase your flexibility, help to reduce stress and anxiety and introduce you to some yoga poses that you can use in other classes. This class can accommodate almost all physical limitations.

No matter what class you choose it is always important to let your teacher know if you are pregnant or have any physical limitations or health conditions. We are trained to accommodate most conditions.

  • Many people stay with our beginner friendly classes and experience reduced stress and increased flexibility, balance and strength; however If you are looking to increase the physical challenge of your workout and experience greater cardio and strengthening then you might want to try some of our more physically challenging classes.

Vinyasa classes are our most physically challenging and fast paced classes and are not appropriate for beginners. It is expected that you have a basic knowledge of most yoga poses before attending these classes. Although teachers will still offer modifications and help to instruct proper alignment they will not slow down class to teach you poses or demonstrate how to transition between poses.

  • If you are looking for more mindfulness in your practice we offer classes and a variety of events that are physically accessible while offering more mindful practices such as breathwork, meditation and energy work.

Keep an eye on our Upcoming Events to look for Kundalini Yoga workshops, Shamanic Journeys, Yoga Nidra, Sound Healing offerings, Oracle card readings and Psychic readings.

Our regular mindful class offerings include Movement & Meditation, Qi Gong and Restorative Yoga. You will often find that meditation and breathwork is also woven into many of our gentle yoga classes.
